The Department of Geography started its journey since 2006 and presently is engaged in teaching both Honours and General courses.It is enriched with highly qualified and competent faculties.The department has its own library and GIS lab facility.The department has a well equipped practical laboratory and it conducts practical classes on a regular basis.Students of honours and general are taken for educational tour every year.The faculties of the department arranged seminar, webinar,workshop and special lectures on a regular basis

It is my pleasure and honour to welcome you to the Department of Geography of DumDum Motijheel Rabindra Mahavidyalaya, which is one of the renowned colleges of West Bengal State University. Ever since the Department of Geography started its journey in 2006, the department has been consistently and successfully performing the multiple roles of creating new knowledge. Presently, the department is engaged in teaching both Honours and General courses. Our vision is to be recognised as innovative and leading information in the field of Geography. Our goal is to provide students with a balance of intellectual and practical experiences that enable them to serve a variety of societal needs. The Department has always experienced significant growth and dedicated faculty with strong commitment to different specialisations in Geographical fields who work with effort and enthusiasm to provide an innovative and optimum learning environment. The Department has excellent lab facilities, which are being upgraded from time to time and provide ample opportunities for the students to learn and innovate. The Department organises interactive lectures and seminars by inviting educators from different institutions for the overall development of students as well as for faculties. The students are motivated to participate in paper presentations, workshops, and seminars that are essential to maintaining proficiency. Cultural activities are also promoted at the departmental level. I am confident that the students of the department would justify the credibility of the department by showing a high level of professional competence in their respective fields.
